What’s the science behind the treatment?
The Skinbetter Science AlphaRet peel uses alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) to exfoliate your skin, retinol to improve texture, fine lines, and stimulate collagen, while peptides boost hydration.
What can I expect during my procedure?
As with all procedures at The Derm Lab Rx, you’ll start with a skin consultation to talk about what treatment plans are best for your skin goals. Patients often experience a slight tingling active sensation during the treatment for up to 3 minutes until the peel is removed. The whole treatment from start to finish takes about 30 minutes.
Is there any downtime with this treatment?
You can return to daily life activities immediately post peel, keeping in mind your skin is more susceptible to sun damage due to it being thoroughly chemically exfoliated and to stay extra protected with an SPF of 50+. Depending on the sensitivity level of your skin, you may experience slight redness that will usually disperse within a couple of hours following your treatment
Do I need multiple treatments? How long do results last?
One treatment will improve texture and breakouts, revealing a healthier and brighter complexion that can last you up to a few months. For long term and effective results, sessions are recommended every 4 weeks, with 3-5 sessions giving you optimal results. Best results can be seen immediately after treatment, and even more so when skin flaking ends (usually around 7 days). You can expect to have a beautiful glow right after treatment and even the following day!
